A Mannequin's Soliloquy

Very pleased with how it turned out! I started it last year and it's another of those things that I really just let my instincts and subconsciousness drive to fruition, hence the surrealist/dreamscape feel.

~A Mannequin's Soliloquy~

When you can't tell if it's safe to fly,
You can hear the clock ticking
But you cannot perceive your place in time
Or how many hours are yours
Before your wings fuse dry.

Humanity's tethers hold you fast
While you remain faceless, and doubtful
Of what the world can offer you.
You're preserved in a moment of fluctuation
Eyes scan your form with scrutiny;
You feel naked in their gaze,
But they cannot take your thoughts.
Let not the fortress of your mind
Be broken down by climbing weeds.

While the stars burn
And cogs turn,
Your true form gestates
Within a casing of borrowed parts.
You cannot see the clock hands
Making their journey past each numeral,
But you can watch the turning skies
And with the perfect dawn
You will shed your skin,
Embracing the new horizon.
