Scary Fairies Viper Character Design

An old piece of work dating back to 2006 which I did for the Rock Hard Fairies franchise. I always held off on showing this work as I was waiting for it to go public, but seeing as RHF is no longer active I think it's safe to assume this will never see the light of day otherwise.
If this design had gone ahead it for its intended purpose, it would have been made into figurines and appeared on various merchandise items. Once again, such a shame further development didn't come to pass on this.

Anyway, this character is called Viper and she is one of the Rock Hard Fairies' enemies (the Scary Fairies). She has a cobra sidekick (at this point I can't recall whether he got a name or not).

I made the original design entirely in Illustrator (this was one of my first commercial vector pieces). For the purposes of this presentation I added a drop shadow effect in Photoshop, which nicely demonstrates the semi-transparencies in the wings that otherwise might not be fully apparent.
