PegChan was shortlisted in IMAF's Character Design category 2006!
Peg-Chan is my character which I created to enter into the IMAF [link]
competition, for the Open/Character design for children section.
This pic shows line-art of Peg-Chan (and Takoyaki-kun the octopus) in some standard "turnaround" views. This is generally part of the standard character design process for me, which I tend to do if presenting a character to be converted into a 3D model (for video games, etc.) or for animation purposes.
Here's the background info for the character:
Pegchan loves to scoot around the decks of her ship on her trusty wheeled peg-leg. When she gets whizzing around at full speed she's practically a blur!
Pegchan's little friend Takoyaki-kun is no ordinary stuffed toy octopus, either. He's a strange voodoo doll that Pegchan acquired on a visit to a remote island, and he's posessed by the spirit of a former ship's captain (a very highly regarded one at that). But even so, Tako admits that he messed up big-time when he got on the wrong side of a voodoo priest and ended up in the state he is today. Takoyaki-kun is the voice of reason when Pegchan gets a bit too hot-headed for her own good.
