This is just a tarted-up pencil sketch I did last night, inspired by the BBC TV series 'Life on Mars', which is flippin' ace. [link]
From left to right (skipping the Ford Cortina, as much as I'd love it to be mine, LOL ) - DI Sam Tyler, WPC Annie Cartwright and DCI Gene Hunt.
Bear in mind that most of the retro goodness you see in Life on Mars was very much my world when I was ickle. I may have been born post-1973 but as a tot of the late '70s I remember when everything looked just as it does in LoM. *nostalgia*
I love the attention to detail the creators have put into this series; all the references, etc... and the jokes I'm old enough to get. Arf!
This fan-art is my little token of appreciation for Life on Mars. We need more telly like this... I'm so sick of a lot of the drivel that's been filling our screens in recent years; the obsession with celebrity over talent. It's even held things like the new Doctor Who back IMO (*insert current trendy celeb name into Christmas special* - it's gonna age so badly ), but I'll cut my grumpy old woman rant short for now.
With shows like Life on Mars and Heroes (yes, I love that show too! ) there is hope!!
Ta, hon! Woo, you were lightning-quick in there with the first comment! Yayness!
Glad you like the show too~ ^_^ Ahh... the Camberwick Green parody had me in stitches.
Yay! Life on Mars! It is an awesome series, I will buy the DVDs... I'm a baby of the 80s and a child of the 90s, so it was an interesting insight for me seeing how much has changed over the years...
Yeah, Catherine Tate on Doctor Who was irritating, but that might be because I find her annoying, but I didn't find the other celebrity appearances aren't annoying at all! That's just me...
-- I haven't done anything stupid yet, but give me time.
I agree with you - some celebrity appearances are fine - I like it when they work so well in their part that they can really convince you that they're part of the Doctor Who universe and not just [what's-their-name] from [such-and-such a series] popping up for an episode or two. It's just when the appearances feel shoehorned in that it really bugs me.
PS. This past Saturday's Doctor Who was probably the best one so far of the current series. Mark Gatiss' performance FTW!

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
